Yes, I know I haven’t posted anything recently. Luckily, there are others who can get to their keyboards more often than I can.
Check out the newest post from Praxis Foundation.
Very quiet word on the street is that the FAA is going to re-start refresher training on the HOST system for our techs. You know, the system that is supposed to be replaced by ERAM. (Note in that Wikipedia link that ERAM was supposed to have replaced HOST two years ago.) Also within that whisper is that the contract with IBM to support HOST has been extended for another 3 years. I’m still looking for something to back up the whispering, but it’s been extremely quiet – which may relate back to that first link to Don Brown’s blog.
But it also makes me wonder if Hank Krakowski’s “resignation” may have had more to do with his extremely bad decision to go in-service with ERAM than it did with several sleepy controllers. Hard to tell.
I may have not posted recently, but it seems to me that there’s been even less said by those whose jobs it is to say.
